Teri Lyn Fisher is an advertising, editorial, food, cosmetic, and still life photographer in the Los Angeles area, and has been shooting since 2008. She’s focused mostly on food and cosmetics, but also loves to work with motion. She began her photographic journey at the Otis College of Art and Design in Los Angeles. It was there she studied Graphic Design and gained her appreciation for colors and composition. She still employs a lot of those principals today to create flow and architecture within her images by utilizing the interaction of shapes, colors, and texture. After Otis, Teri went on to complete a Bachelors degree in Commercial Photography at Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, CA. She graduated with distinction and has been shooting ever since. She was born and raised in Boise, Idaho. Growing up there taught her an appreciation for the beauty in the outdoors and gave Teri a penchant for utilizing natural light in much of her work. After, she moved to Los Angeles, and couldn’t believe the variety in types of cuisines and the endless amount of restaurant choices. She was very excited to try everything, and I still is! This new found love of food helped to shape her focus of food photography. After some time pursuing food photography, she decided that she needed to have a deeper understanding of the food itself. In 2013, she started attending culinary classes to gain a different and more technical perspective of food, rather than just a visual one. All those Saturdays spent in cooking classes exponentially expanded her ideas and skills around photographing food. Teri can now see a recipe and consider all the possible options for photographing the process start to finish. In recent years she has expanded her craft to include cosmetic photography. Cosmetic photography has opened a new area of creativity for Teri. It lets her explore more graphic and careful compositions through the use of color and precise artificial lighting. It’s extremely satisfying to translate a concept into an image. Today in her Los Angeles studio, Teri is focused on advertising and editorial food photography, as well as still life and cosmetic photography. She also shoots a lot of cookbooks. For a peek into my most recent projects see her blog (SpoonForkBacon). Teri considers herself lucky to be able to maintain her passion as her job. When Teri is not working she is probably enjoying the occasional Costco hot dog, bothering her cat, or watching movies and then falling asleep half way through.
Let’s make some pretty pictures together!
